Machihazure is a photographic investigation into the peripheral zones of Japanese urban space, shaped by repetition, quietness, and latent abandonment. Focusing on architectural forms and shared civic structures while excluding human presence, the project foregrounds space as an active subject.Through absence, dormitory cities appear as suspended landscapes, where functionality, time, and social memory are inscribed into marginal environments, positioning these overlooked areas as critical sites for reflecting on contemporary urban life.
